ACC’s After School project will address the needs of underprivileged and at-risk youth, with a focus on the incoming Iraqi refugee community. Their major documented issues include; poverty, lack of structured educational activities, cultural isolation and language barrier; all of which hinders academic achievement and may contribute to school dropout rates.
This project will provide after school activities to include tutoring, homework assistance, reading club, life and leadership skills, basic computer skills training and use, and parenting education. The project will provide valuable activities in a nurturing environment under the supervision and mentorship of caring instructors.
