The project will address all priority outcome areas in the impact area: Basic Needs with concentration on "improve delivery of services". The goal of the project is to ensure that low-income households, immigrants and refugees have thier basic needs met in an efficient manner, and have plans in place which will lead them towards achieving economic independence.
This project addresses gaps in services available to low-income, at-risk students during the regular school day, and simultaneously assists their parents/guardians in strengthening their English language and parenting skills. This research-based, high quality program is designed to ultimately bring each child served up to Michigan state standards, particularly in reading. The program fulfills the Five Promises, and focuses on developing children's social, emotional, and physical skills.
