DEAF C.A.N.!’s Youth Empowerment Service (YES!) is a comprehensive, multi-dimensional, developmentally based program for Deaf youth and their families. The program promotes parental involvement, enhances school readiness, increases academic achievement, and develops leadership for Deaf youth (pre-school through high school). There are three components to Deaf YES!: 1) Learning, Educating and Parenting (LEAP). This program focuses on children and their parents from birth to three years. 2) Shared Reading addresses literacy development at the elementary level; 3) Youth Leadership/“Pathways to the Future” spotlights leadership, higher education transitions, and the attainment of independent living skills for Middle/High School Students.

Deaf HEAL & SHIELD provides accessible individualized supported case management services to Deaf people in the medical, legal, and social service milieus. The program’s focus is to close cultural and language gaps that cannot be assured by Sign language Interpreter services alone. The consumer is assisted in arranging appointments, filling out forms, asking critical questions and understanding findings. Individualized intervention drastically improves compliance with directives, increases professional assurance, and lessens the isolation and breakdown in communication due to language and cultural barriers. Project includes: prevention, education, and system change via Deaf sensitivity training for medical, legal, social service personnel.
