Jewish Family Service

Fiduciary for:

Jewish Family Service (JFS) and Common Ground Sanctuary are submitting a collaborative proposal addressing the Youth Stay In School priority outcome within the Educational Preparedness Impact Area. Two main goals for the proposal include:

  • Increase the number of youth matched with caring adult mentors in the Mentor Connection “Community Mentoring for Youth” program from 80 to 185 by July 2011.
  • Enhance Mentor Connection through the creation of the “Building Futures Together” program that will serve at least 100 older youth by 2011. This program will combine life skills development, college and career exploration with community-based mentoring strategies.

Jewish Family Service will help individuals and families meet their basic needs through counseling, case management and geriatric care management services, providing community linkages, advocacy and education to facilitate long term financial stability as well as emotional and interpersonal well being. JFS provides these services from strengths-based and person-centered perspectives, focusing on long-term financial stability, through an understanding of the basic underlying causes of targeted needs.
