Living Arts will collaborate with El Arte Alliance to provide 150 southwest Detroit middle school students at the Academy of the Americas with a total of 86 hours of arts-infused social studies and language arts instruction taught by professional musicians, audio artists, filmmakers and poets. Students will benefit from instruction and guidance of 1-2 artists at each session, in addition to their classroom teacher and supporting technicians. El Arte will also provide one parent/student workshop featuring arts practices from one or more of our Youth Create programs.

Trained arts-infused literacy instructors from El Arte Alliance will teach 460 30-minute arts-infused literacy sessions to approximately 400 Vista Nuevas Head Start students in 23 classrooms at two centers in southwest Detroit over the course of 20 weeks. Living Arts will also provide professional development for both Centers' teachers with one training and eight curriculum development meetings and two intergenerational parent/child arts and literacy workshops per center.
