The Detroit Institute for Children
Fiduciary for:
Since 1920, DIC’s Rehabilitative Services have addressed the basic needs of disabled children in our community. Through a comprehensive and integrated approach, children learn to dress themselves, take their first steps, or speak their first words. DIC provides expert treatment in one building to provide a central location for disabled children to access essential rehabilitative care. In keeping with DIC’s founding principles, no child is denied service because of a family’s inability to pay.
For 25 years, DIC School Services have provided a wide array of individualized education and early childhood development, medical, mental health, rehabilitative and parent services to many schools in Southeast Michigan. DIC is the support agency provider for all Early Head Start and Head Start programs in the the City of Detroit. Through the DIC School Services program, our skilled therapists and social workers provide screening, evaluation and where necessary, an Individual Education Plan or Individualized Family Service Plan to address the developmental needs of both the child and the family.
